ingridsalasantamaria.com Between 1994-1999, world-acclaimed Japanese-Finnish pianist IZUMI TATENO made 6 visits to Cebu City in the Philippines where at the Salvador and Pilar Sala Foundation, Inc. (SPSFI), he gave several inspirational concerts in support of SPSFI's Ten-Year Music Development Program to produce the Cebu Youth Symphony Orchestra (CYSO) and Peace Philharmonic Philippines (PPP). Among these concerts was a Duo-Piano Recital at the Pilar B. Sala Concert Hall with Sala Foundation Chair Ingrid Sala Santamaria on January 15, 1996, now uploaded here to YouTube in 15 sections. Their program includes the Haydn-Brahms Variations, Poulenc Concerto in d minor, Chopin Rondeau in C Major and the Rachmaninoff Suite Op. 17 composed of the March, Waltz, Romance and Tarantelle. The Tateno-Santamaria Team also performed the same program in Manila and at the Oulunsalo International Music Festival in Finland. Included in the 1996 Cebu program seen here are 3 young CYSO violinists --- Marc Mercado, Francis Balo, and Reynaldo Abellana whom Tateno and Santamaria took turns in accompanying in works by Bach, Seitz and Vivaldi. Their main Violin tutor had been Prof. Rodelio Flores who was also the first conductor of CYSO and PPP. Maestro Tateno made a Homecoming Visit to Cebu City in June, 2011, and premiered a Left-Hand Concerto by contemporary Japanese composer Takashi Yoshimatsu with CYSO/PPP which was conducted by Prof. Ariel Perez.
